As August ushers in senior year, Pembroke Pines Charter High School seniors’ thoughts begin to scramble: What happens next? The reality of attending college and living alone or with strangers in a dorm strikes a nerve for many prospective college students. Since college marks the beginning of adult life and newfound independence, the thought brings a mix of nerves and excitement to some.
Many of them are excited to move out of their houses and live by themselves, while others are nervous to be alone, as they will not have their parents with them. Whether they are moving far away for college or staying close to home, seniors are a mix of nervous and excited for the chapter ahead of them.
“High school ending is a very nerve-racking situation, since I am going to be out of what I am used to and a… different world. Now I am going to be an adult and have more responsibilities. Yet, it is exciting because I am going to be an actual member of society and live my own life. Yet, college somewhat does make me nervous since I know there will be bumps along the road that will build me as a person.” – Brooke Glatz, senior
“It’s going to be rough and challenging entering real life, but I think I will be fine as I will be able to live on my own.” – Rocco Pamparatto, senior
“I think ending high school is going to be scary, yet a bittersweet experience. Since I have accomplished this big thing (graduation), I am leaving behind my friends. Also, the fact that many people at Charter have grown up together and gone to the same school since elementary school, and now we are all leaving and going our separate ways. I am excited yet very nervous, because it is like the fear of the unknown.” – Anabelle Caballero, senior
“I think it will be good for me, as I will have my own independence, and enter real life.” – Jahmari Rose, senior
“I think it is going to be a very big change in general. This is due to the fact that our parents and teachers have held our hands throughout high school, but then we get pushed into real life and living on our own. Also, there are a lot of choices and decisions to make before and after graduating.” – Ayana Russell Hilton, senior
“High school is amazing, and I love it here, yet I am ready to just go and live on my own. I am going to be a little sad that I am leaving, yet real life is exciting.” – Janel Lopez, senior
“It is a new chapter in life; I am very excited to start being more independent with my life. While having the opportunity to learn about things that are extremely fascinating to me.” – Ana Beatriz Martins, senior
“It is a bittersweet moment, yet a start to something new. Since there will be new experiences that everyone is going to be going through, and I am looking forward to it, as it is a new school and new everything.” – Giovanna Colaferri, senior
