Erioluwa Fatimilehin is a 17-year-old senior at Pembroke Pines Charter High School who volunteers at her local hospital during the weekend. In this video, Fatimilehin gives the audience a glimpse of what it’s like to not only volunteer at a hospital, but how volunteering at one can prepare you for the real world.
Fatimilehin plans on working in the health care field in the future, particularly with kids, so she has taken that passion and applies it to her volunteer work on the Mother & Baby Unit. There, she is able to interact with mothers both new and experienced, while also seeing how nurses and doctors interact with new borns to get them ready for the world.
Although Fatimilehin is not working hands-on with the babies nor mothers, she enjoys bringing them anything that they ask for, in addition to helping the nurses to discharge the mother and baby from the hospital as they enter this new chapter of their life.
Volunteering at a hospital is a rewarding activity for both the person and who they’re helping, and always brings a smile to the faces of many!
