This past summer, students from all over Pembroke Pines Charter High School traveled to various countries, attended internships, and engaged in other activities that filled their summer with excitement and joy. Within the content newspaper class, new and returning students were able to relax and explore what was out there for them. Since the school year has started, here is a recap of summer 2025, CHAT edition:
“Over the summer, I visited Big Arm, Montana, with my family. I really enjoyed my time by the water during the week I was there. I can’t wait to go back!” – Caroline Curl, sophomore
“I’ve had the privilege of traveling the world, and also traveling to the most beautiful places ever, in which Mother Nature truly creates such beauty. During summer, going to Niagara Falls was one of the best experiences yet, and I’m so grateful to have been given the chance of seeing it in person.” – Gabriela Godoy, junior
“This summer, I worked at a camp as a camp counselor. Also, since I just got a car, I went out a lot with my friends. By far, this was definitely one of the best summers I’ve had in my life!” –Daisy Ferguson, junior
“This summer was so much fun! Japan is one of the most beautiful and fun countries I’ve visited. It was also my sweet sixteen in July, so my parents surprised me with a trip to London; I was so grateful!” – Adia Smith, junior
“I didn’t go on any trips this year, but I loved modifying my car over the summer. I had to get creative with where I bought certain parts because this hobby is pretty pricey, but overall, this summer was amazing!” – Derek Thompson, junior
“During the summer, I got a job working at the AMC movie theater. It really made my summer a lot more enjoyable since I could do something productive and make money off it. I can’t argue with free movies either.” – Micah Lopez, senior
“This summer was so much fun! Since it was the summer before senior year, I really wanted it to be a memorable one, so I was always busy with family or friends. We took a trip to Epic Universe, and it was so neat walking into every land as if it actually existed in real life. I also went to Marathon Key, Florida, which is like home away from home. We went snorkeling, wakeboarding, tubing, and shelling. It was the best summer I could’ve asked for!” – Amanda Quintela, senior
“My summer was filled with new memories, traveling, and smiles. At the start of summer, I went to Orlando, Florida, for my last volleyball tournament of the season. That trip became a new core memory of mine, as I’ve really connected more with my teammates, and we got to play a sport I care very deeply about. A few weeks later, I went to Georgia to support my brother at his baseball tournament. While we were there, we were able to go to the Georgia Aquarium and the Coca-Cola Factory. To end my summer off, I went to New Jersey and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. I love going to these places every year, and this year we got to bring my brother’s girlfriend to New Jersey, which made the trip even more special. Considering this was my last summer in high school, I wouldn’t have wanted it to go any other way.” – Marlee Jaworski, senior
“On June 27, I boarded the plane from Miami to Washington, D.C. I was honored to be selected as the Florida representative at the Al Neuharth Free Spirit and Journalism conference. I spent a week not only learning about the new age of journalism, but about myself as a journalist. I learned from talented writers from the Washington Post, New York Times, and Wall Street Journal. I opened my eyes to the new perspectives around me and made amazing friendships. This experience not only made me feel grateful for the opportunities I have, but for my voice that I get to share with the nation.” -Julianna Perez, senior
