As one entered the oceanfront terrace of the Marriott Harbor Beach Hotel, the mocktail hour was full of stunning dresses and stylish suits. The jaw-dropping view of Ft Lauderdale Beach was the background for many last-minute pictures or TikTok videos and transitions. As well, the mocktail hour had delicious hand-passed hors d’oeuvres and a mango mocktail for the guests to enjoy.
As the doors of the ballroom opened, the students of Pines Charter and their guests were greeted with a beautiful display of “A Starry Night” with glittery stars and lights placed all around the indoor venue.
When the music started playing and everyone had finished their dinner, the dance floor started to fill up, and the energy was like no other. The night was filled with lots of dancing, mosh pits, and even crowd surfing. It was an unforgettable night, “being there with all [her] friends,” and dancing the whole night was one of Ashley Hoadley´s favorite moments during her senior prom.
While the night progressed, it was finally time for that special moment for every couple and even friends: the slow dance. “Die With a Smile” by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga was the song for this very special moment. ¨Seeing everyone dance with their couples was very awesome to see,¨ Hoadley said.
It was back to partying as soon as the song was over, but around 10 o’clock, it was the moment everyone had been waiting for: the announcement of prom queen and king. There were many couples nominated for this title, but in the end, the winning couple was Fabiana Roca and Sebastian Gonzalez.
Noting how she had never run for an award like this during high school, Fabiana was “honestly super surprised to have won with Sebastian.” She also said that the night really showed ẗhe unity between her and her senior class after “having conversations with other people [she] had never really spoken much to during her high school years.”
For Gonzalez, he says that their win was very much deserved because “[he] and Fabiana have been together for so long,” and that the award was almost a “testament to who [they] are as a couple.”
Gonzalez said the highlight of his prom night was similar to Roca’s as he was touched by “the unity of the class,” sharing the dance floor with his friends and fellow classmates was part of what made the night so special.
As the high school years of the PPCHS’s Class of 2025 came to an end, they finished off with a night full of unity and unforgettable memories that will last for a lifetime.
