After a year of Charter’s Student Government making its way back to the county and state level of student councils, the legacy has been passed down to next year’s leaders in the SGA induction ceremony. An afternoon dedicated to thanking the work of the current officers and giving a warm welcome to the leaders who the torch is passed down to.
The ceremony began with each officer taking a step on stage with the officer who they would pass down their duties to. Each leader had a special speech to share with the audience that was made up of current and new officers alongside the SGA class members. Each speech held memories, gratitude, and advice for those who would be taking their place.
After the speeches were shared, laughter echoed throughout the library auditorium, alongside tears of joy amidst the bittersweet feelings of the moment. Old and new officers gathered together on stage as senior SGA President Jaelyn Perez lit the candles that were in the hands of each current officer.
Carefully, the old officers lit their new officer’s candle and blew theirs out shortly after to signify their official retirement. Cheers erupted and hugs were shared on and off the stage to celebrate the milestone that has been completed. A symbol of a new beginning for the Student Government Association.
“After being SGA president for a year, it is honestly a bittersweet feeling to pass it on. It eases me to know the new board is going to do amazing. Janeyliz is going to do everything I wish I could and more. I’m truly excited to watch SGA grow and soar,” wholeheartedly shares Perez.
To honor the seniors, SGA advisor Mrs. Altimore presented each one with an SGA medal to be worn at graduation and a white stole for each senior officer. Greeted with warm embraces, everyone enjoyed the last moments of company offered by class of 2025, who will soon begin their own new journey after high school.
Now, as the newly inducted members begin their own leadership journey in this organization, the memories made throughout the year will remain close to everyone’s hearts. Not only as a group of leaders, but as a class most known for being a family.
Welcome the official 2025-2026 SGA Council who will promote school spirit and continue the legacy of leadership to the student body here at Pines Charter!
