A 13-hour flight from Florida to Japan for Charter was a struggle, but it was definitely worth it. From trying new foods, to visiting places they were only able to see on their phone before, and seeing how it was to be a part of Japanese culture for just a week. Unique, special in its own right, and spending it with their best friends. Couldn’t ask for much more.
Seeing different cultures, greetings, and religious practices can open up a lot of eyes from people visiting. That is what junior Liz Rubio saw. “I was surprised at how polite and willing to help the people are, as well as how advanced even simple technologies are there,” Rubio said. This is Rubio’s second time going to Japan. Going with her mom back in 2023. Both times were special for her as she would love to again someday by herself to personalize the trip a bit more.
Harajuku, Shibuya, Akihabara are some of the most populated cities in Japan where students took the opportunity to visit many new places that describe the country’s culture. Then, they were able to explore more traditional places like the Great Buddha of Kamakura, and view spots for Mt. Fuji, and Odawara Castle. Making the most of everything they can in a week span.
During exploration across a new location, there are people to meet along the way that can absolutely transform the entire trip and maybe see it in a different perspective. “Dr. Garcia told us that we would be a family by the end of the trip, but I didn’t believe him,” Senior Sofia Peralta states. “Needless to say, he was right.” Many experiences along the way can usually connect people together and maybe even see some long-term friendships.
A place like Japan can be filled with memorable moments, key times in your life that probably can’t be felt now, but it will be realized in the near future. So memorable that there will be a need to go back. “I didn’t want to leave,” Peralta said.
An amazing experience like that shouldn’t be only experienced once. “It’s definitely a good solo trip spot… I’d love to personalize the trip to do what I want to do.” Visiting a location like Japan can open up the eyes to a much, much different world. Everyone has their own journey to explore, Japan gives you the keys to its beauty and purpose.
