After a season of high hopes, the Pines Charter Varsity Basketball team ended their season at regional finals while also being ranked 16th in the state. Ending their season with a record of 19-8, the Jags made it far, yet not as far as last season.
Wishing for a repeat of last season, becoming state champions again, the Jags did not go down without a fight. Their final game was at regional finals against Blanche Ely, with the score being 56-59.
This season, the Jags came back for revenge against some of the teams that they lost to last season, some of these teams being: Northeast High School and Coral Springs High School.

The Jags also secured some tough wins, especially against at the time, #1 ranked in the county, Coral Glades and high-ranked Chaminade Madonna. Both of these games being tough battles, the Jags were locked in and played their tightest offense and defense.
Recapping this season, Sophomore Point Guard, Kaden Alfonso explains that “this season was a good season, yet humbling, especially after we lost to some teams that I personally think we should’ve beat, but that’s life.”
The upperclassmen express their grief and thoughts about the season ending, while the underclassmen take it as a wakeup call, aiming to make next season a revenge season. Junior Point Guard, Jonas Ferguson explains his thoughts on how this “was a good season, but next year we are going to have a lot of good players, and I believe that we will win states.”
Alfonso adds, “All we can do is not waste a day of work, everyday we need to get better, and meet with adversity so we push through it.”
Believing in the program, and the potential that this team has, the Jags are working hard every day, not just individually, but as a team, ready for their revenge season.
