In the past, the Pines Charter Jags Volleyball team has not had the most successful seasons, ending most of their seasons with more losses than wins with a 0.417 winning percentage. Attempting a fresh start, the volleyball program has brought in Junior, Gabriel Castro’s dad, Fabio Castro to be the new head coach for the Jaguars.

The Jags are spiking into their season with their home opener against Nova High School on March 3. After a previous loss against them and losing all three sets, the Jags are ready for a comeback.
They proved their comeback with a win against Nova with a score of 3-2.
Sophomore, Adrian Navarro, expresses his thoughts and goals for this upcoming season, especially on how he hopes “to go to states, with this being our overall goal. Expectations this year are higher because we have new players and a new coach. Although we have a tough division, I think we will do well in districts.”
Hoping to go far, the PPCHS Jags are working with their potential, especially with the attempt of making it through districts and acquiring the district championship trophy.
Although they have not made it through districts in the past, the Jags are hoping for a comeback this season, especially with the new coach.
Junior Gabriel Castro explained that his “expectations and goals are going to be a little bit different this season. We expect to be one of the top teams in the region this year. With new additions to our coaching staff and our roster, we plan to make a run for states during these next two years.”
Overall, the PPCHS Jags are hoping to have a better record this season than they had in the past. With the main goal of making it through their tough district bracket and being district champions. As they grow as a team and improve, especially with the new coach, the Jags have high hopes and expectations for this season.
