For some, the euphoria that they feel post-workout may be what motivates them to live a healthy lifestyle. For Charter alumnus Joshua Hing, creating an IV Hydration business and becoming a nurse has allowed him to take care of people while simultaneously doing what he loves the most: athletics and healthy living.
After going to Florida Gulf Coast University and then transferring to Florida International University with his bachelor’s in sports and fitness studies, Hing began his nursing career. “I actually had it in my mind that I was going to be a nurse when I was preparing to leave high school.” Hing explains, “Some of my family members are nurses and they always said it was a solid career choice.”
As Hing continues to finish up his first year as a nurse, he has been wanting to grow his clientele and “[get] into different fitness groups to expand my credibility.” In September, Hing started working as an IV Hydration Specialist and created his own company called Revive Wellness, which “helps people with replenishing fluid and vitamins through IVs.”
Revive Wellness helps those who have jet lag, are partygoers, and are interested in hot yoga and fitness. Hing states, “We have a great hangover cure drip, [and we] also help those who travel a lot through time zones.”
After being on the Pines Charter basketball team in high school, Hing wanted to find a way to be around fitness while pursuing his career was crucial to him: “Being an athlete most of my life, I saw it as a way to continue being around sports and general fitness. People are sweating and losing nutrients during their chosen activities, [and] that is where I come in as a concierge service.” He continues, “Traveling to clients’ homes, hotels, or offices for a hydration drip allows them to maintain a healthy lifestyle from their own comfort.”
However, all that Hing has done wouldn’t be without the help of Pembroke Pines Charter High School. Despite graduating in 2014, Charter has taught Hing a lot: “Being a part of the Pines Charter Basketball Team helped me grow independently. The teamwork, hard work, and commitment to a goal gave me a foundation that has carried into my career.” He reminisces on how Charter was “a dysfunctional family,” but still enjoyed his time there because of the relationships he formed.
As Revive Wellness continues to excel in promoting hydration in the fitness community, Hing carries on with his career of helping others in and outside of the hospital. By branching out to create his own business, Hing can continue his passion in sports and assist athletes that were once in his same athletic shoes.
