The Lady Jags on the prowl
As the Lady Jags ended their regular season with a victorious senior night, the playoffs quickly approached. Ending the month of January with two district wins, a dominating 8-0 victory against Hollywood Hills then a rivalry that is anticipated every year, Archbishop McCarthy.
Following this, an away game for the Jags as they headed to Maverick territory to face off cross town rivals. A steady start with dominance by the Lady Jags, the 90 minutes ended leading to the high intense penalty shootout. With complete composure and confidence, the Lady Jags were able to hold up the 5A District trophy once again.
Continuing their postseason run, the Jaguars faced Varela to kick off the month of February. Another dominating win added to the record, a 8-0 victory sealed the Jaguars place in regional semifinals. Once again facing cross town rivals McCarthy AWAY. This was not just a regular Friday night lights, this was the rivalry of the year. Win or go home, elimination was on the line.
With a tight back and forth game, unfortunately the last 20 minutes of the game, the Lady Jags conceded a goal. The Lady Jags could not find the back of the net, ending not only the game but the 2024-25 soccer season.
Boys soccer protecting the den
Continuing the hot streak, the Jaguars have an undefeated season. Controlling the 5A district all season long the Jags faced McArthur to start off the district tournament. Once again the Jags flew by like a breeze with a 8-0 victory.
Going into the district final, the Jags were looking for the fifth consecutive district championship. A home game packed to play against rivals Archbishop McCarthy, the Jaguars became district champs once again.
With a 3-1 win the Jags continued to move on in the postseason, hosting Jensen Beach. Another dominating performance that finished in a 6-0 victory. The Jaguars are just one win away from heading back to states. The last home game of the season Wednesday, 12th against Varela.
The Jaguars continue to showcase their skills on the field as they are ranked NO.17 in the nation. With hopes to reach the state title the Jaguar continue their amazing undefeated season, 17-0-2.
Defending the state title: Boys Basketball
The Jaguars faced off rivals St. Thomas Aquinas for their senior night, a tough fight that ended in an 46-58 defeat. Bouncing back with a strong 64-44 win over the Cypress Bay Lighting. They continued the winning streak with the third victory against Coral Glades this season, a final of 77-59.
Heading against St. Thomas again for the second time this season, the Jags felt short again with a final score of 68-48. The Jaguars continued to keep their head up as they entered the postseason, having a 3-0 winning streak. Going up against Dilliard, a clean sweep gave the Jags a 77-48 win.
The Jaguars headed to the district championship once again and defeated Archbishop McCarthy with a 83-58 final, as they dominated the 5A district. Shortly after the Jags hosted Atlantic in the jaguar den for the regional quarterfinals, another win added to the record with a final 72-54.
They will face the fourth seed Belen Jesuit on Monday, February 17th for the regional semifinals. The Jaguars are just two wins away from heading back to states.
Shooting for success: Girls Basketball
Closing on the regular season the Lady Jags took a close win against Coral Springs with a final score of 45-43. The turmoil for the Jaguars fell short as they lost four consecutive games in a row.
Falling short to St. Thomas Aquinas 70-30, Cypress Bay 57-45, Northeast 77-28, and unfortunately losing after a tight game to Nova University School 53-52.
As the post season approached the Lady Jags ended the regular season with a 12-9 record. Going into the district tournament, the Jaguars fell short to McArthur in the championship to a final score of 59-49.
Continuing the postseason, the Lady Jags face off Blanche Ely in the regional quarterfinals on Thursday, February 13th.
