The first series of Love Island would feature 12 single celebrities who spent five weeks in Fiji, and the top couple would win 100,000 dollars. Since then, the show’s popularity has spread worldwide, creating 18 versions of Love Island in total.
In the United States, Love Island USA is ranked number one in reality series and hasn’t fallen from the top. So many people are hooked from the first couple minutes of the constant drama, unique personalities, flashy models, and the feel of the show.
Love Island is one of those addictive shows that you find yourself watching at any free hour of your day. Every episode of Love Island leaves people with a cliffhanger so they will continue coming back to watch more, which is a large portion of the appeal of this show.
Turning on the first episode of Love Island, viewers are greeted with a montage of the cast in tiny bikinis with a full face of makeup and washboard abs with Hollywood smiles. This sets the mood with a tropical setting and confident, picture-perfect babes and bros. Once the first impressions, friendships, and coupling starts, the show has just begun.

In my free time, I find myself clicking on Peacock and turning on Love Island, between all of the versions whether that be Love Island US, or Love Island Australia, amongst many others. This show is endlessly entertaining to watch.
It’s comical seeing these beautiful girls and guys coupling up with the wrong people. During the challenges or one-on-one talks, I can’t help but yell at the screen, “What are you doing?!” The array of crazy or sweet personalities are never ending and the contestants’ actions and true motives never fail to shock me.
The popularity of this show comes from the visually appealing setting, the entertainment, the idea of finding love, and the fact the audience feels like they are a part of these people’s love lives.
