Principal Peter Bayer who has been Pembroke Pines Charter High School’s principal for over 20 years, recently received a sweet birthday surprise planned by the PPCHS Student Government Association (SGA).
Early on Jan. 27, the SGA class blew up multiple balloons in anticipation of the plan they had to surprise Mr. Bayer in his office. Once every balloon was filled up, they were placed in a bag which was taken to the office along with the rest of the SGA class.
To ensure the plan was secured, two other SGA students distracted Mr. Bayer outside while the rest of the leadership students placed the balloons all over the office, turned off the lights, and crouched down to wait patiently for Mr. Bayer.
As voices started to emerge from the outside of the door, everyone in the room was ready to shout “Surprise” and immediately began singing happy birthday. Filled with excitement and gratitude, Mr. Bayer clapped along in joyful cheer. Once they finished singing, they gifted him with a large card that had a message from every student in the leadership class.
“My favorite part was how surprised and red he turned when we turned on the lights in his office and started singing him happy birthday. I am so glad he ended up liking the surprise because he truly deserves something special. After all, he does so much for our school and is always able to put a smile on students’ faces, so I’m glad we were able to do it for him,” senior Ava Mendez wholeheartedly expressed.
As the PPCHS Student Government class returned contently to their classroom, they all felt fulfilled after successfully executing a birthday surprise for the one and only Principal Bayer.
