Every year, Winter Fantasy is one of the most anticipated shows. With its amazing performances from various clubs, and performing arts classes, students are always the most excited for this time of the year.
With so many acts and various pieces that are included in the show, it can easily become chaotic without the right organization. This wasn’t a problem for Drama class President, senior Sofia Romero. Being in the spotlight since middle school, Romero “started in 6th grade with the drama club at West.” Romero has worked endlessly each day alongside Ms. Sanford to help make the production of Winter Fantasy as smooth as possible.
Theatre has always held a special place in Romero’s heart. During one of her many practices leading up to Winter Fantasy, she commented, “Rehearsal has always been a happy place for me. I honestly love the long hours and the amount of work we put in every day. It really is a commitment and it’s not easy, but it’s what I love, and I enjoy the amount of time and sacrifices I dedicate to my passion.” With her devotion to the performing arts, Romero was able to guide many of her peers to create a magical performance. However, Romero wasn’t alone throughout the whole process.
“Tatiana has helped me the most, we’ve been working together since middle school in drama, and I couldn’t imagine getting as much done without her help and support. Paola, Dylan, and Alyssa have also helped a lot. We’re in this together and I couldn’t be more grateful to them all.” Romero expresses. Without the Drama class board members, the show could have possibly taken a turn for the worse. Working collaboratively as a team, they were all able to equally help each other out in various ways. Together, they all helped run rehearsals, coach their performers, write scripts, and manage the light fixtures and props.
On an eventful Thursday night, Winter Fantasy was launched into flight. With Romero and the drama departments’ efforts, the production was able to run smoothly.
