PPCHS’s Class of 2028 Student Council’s recent Crumbl Cookie fundraiser has garnered attention around Pines Charter. For $5 a treat, the Freshman Student Council would hopefully raise enough money to have an exciting four years. By getting a head start in their savings, the class would be able to host fun events throughout their high school career. But was the fundraiser as much of a success as they’d hoped?
Crumbl, a popular sweets company among teens, seemed like the perfect choice for a successful fundraiser. “We thought that since so many of the student population like Crumbl, it would be a hit,” said Class President John Abohasen. Abohasen, who spearheaded the fundraiser, knew partnering with Crumbl would maximize the funds the Class of 2028 received.
Moreover, part of the reason their fundraiser was so successful was the way it was marketed. Shriya Sardesai, the Class of 2028 Freshman Senator, explained that “people assume donating to a fundraiser is a waste of money, but because people like Crumbl, they were more interested in buying.” She also noted that the Class of 2028 decided to market it as school spirit rather than a fundraiser to encourage donations. Through this strategy, Sardesai, along with her fellow Student Council members, expected a large turnout in fundraising.
Many school fundraisers end up ineffective because of a failed marketing strategy. It can be hard to appeal to one class, let alone the entire student body, especially when the funds are necessary for the class’ success. However, the Crumbl fundraiser was incredibly well-received and has given the Class of 2028 a head start in saving for future high school events.
“We hope to raise as much money as we can for our prom in four years and we are also planning to have some events later in the year to get the 9th graders… to meet each other and have fun,” Abohasen said, noting the Student Council’s goal to introduce themselves to the Freshmen class as well as the rest of the student body.
On Dec. 11th, tasty Crumbl cookies graced buyers’ sixth-period classes. The Freshman Student Council offered multiple types of cookies, including Milk Chocolate Chip, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and Classic Pink Sugar. The fundraiser, which was a smashing success among not only the freshman class but the entire student body, left the Student Council excited to plan fun-filled events for the Class of 2028.
