As the players take the field, the whistle blows, and the first pass is hit, everyone knows that Lady Jags Soccer is back. After having a very successful season last year, making it all the way to the regional finals, the Lady Jags are ready to continue their success.
The Pines Charter girls varsity team ended last season with an outstanding record of 11-4-2, and they hope to follow up this year with another great season.
This team is not just about the players. What truly drives this team are their coaches, Lukas Lemmers, Lyndon Lemmers, and Nicholas Lue Young.
After being an assistant coach for our boys team for 3 years, this is now Lyndon Lemmers’s 7th year as the head coach for the Lady Jags. “[His] hopes for this season are to build with the talent [they] have and continue the success that [they] have had at the program” says head Coach Lemmers.
For the ‘24-‘25 soccer season, this year’s captains are seniors Isabella Mendez, Marissa Martin, and Adriana Lopez. These seniors are ready to lead this team through another amazing season. Now starting her fourth year with the Lady Jags soccer team, Lopez feels “very honored” with this “big responsibility”. Despite the weight on her shoulders, Lopez remains “very happy to be able to lead the team and [she is] very hopeful for the season”
The Lady Jags started off their pre-season with a tough match versus their crosstown rivals, Archbishop McCarthy. Although the match ended in a 1-0 loss for the Jags, the game showed a lot of hope and promise for the rest of the season.
An extremely close game, and “it allowed us to see all of our players and the potential we have” says junior Amanda Fernandez, who is the Lady Jags starting right wing.
Following up from that loss, the Lady Jags were able to regather and defeat Nova University School 1-0 in their final pre-season match up. It was a hard fought game with a goal from sophomore Madison Connacher in the last 10 minutes of the game.
This new season brings lots of excitement with “hope to win districts and make it far into playoffs,” says starting right back, junior Catalina Castro.
Ending off their pre-season on a high note, the Lady Jags are ready to start their regular season on Wednesday, November 13th, against Cooper City High School.
