Fit for an Editor – Molly Mason

Molly (middle)

Gabriela Carvajal, Web Editor Assistant

While the times have grown grim as we are forced to stay at home Charter celebrates the graduates it has fostered. Molly Mason didn’t earn her diploma (yet) or receive college acceptance letters (yet), instead she received word of her accomplishments in the form of an editor position!

Molly has been a part of the Prowler staff since her sophomore year. From middle school she has been a part of the process of constructing yearbooks and with that kind of experience along with Mackenize Ahearn’s inspiration has given her reason to become a part of the staff. “I am so excited to continue being a member; [it has definitely been a wonderful experience].”

The moment when Molly knew she got the position was “[right] after Mr. Fagen sent the email. I had been hoping to become a layout editor after seeing all the amazing work Mackenzie and Alyssa put into our yearbook this year.” Knowing that she wanted “to continue playing a crucial role in next year’s book” hinted towards the fact that she wanted to make a lasting impact in the yearbook, so this position gives her the ability to do just that. “Becoming a Layout Editor took a lot of time and dedication. I would have to stay after school and during homeroom to work to finish pages. But, I learned a lot from Mackenzie and Alyssa and I am excited to continue to work as a part of the Prowler Staff.”

For Molly this position is a step up from her previous job which was being the Social Media manager. This is where she was monitoring and running all of Yearbook’s social media platforms (@prowleryearbook). She also made sure all the members of the Prowler staff were posting on their socials spreading the word of their latest creations.

Besides the tasks she will be doing next year she is definitely looking forward to all the fun this position will bring and getting to work to accomplish a major goal of creating a yearbook for the whole school to enjoy. “In my new position I am looking forward to making sure all of our pages are continued to be submitted on time and that each page represents what our school stands for.”

Just as the school year comes to a close, a door has opened giving Molly a chance to spread her wings and make a difference in what she loves. “This year I am excited to try new techniques and layouts for the 2021 book and get creative with the different spreads and pages.” So, get ready to see a special edition of the Prowler yearbook next year, courtesy of Molly’s latest promotion.
