A clash of luxury and modern art creates the divine event of the year: the Met Gala. The annual unveiling of the iconic Met themes always sparks a conversation on the creativity, speculation, and anticipation of what is to come. The 2025 theme brings excitement as it will be “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”which will incorporate contemporary ideas in addition to the Met’s traditional flair. Charter students have unique ideas on the new theme and have vocalized their opinions:
“ I think it’s so great and inclusive. We need to support other values and ideas which I believe will happen with this theme. The black horse is one of the ideas I’m excited to see.”- Laura Cervantes, Sophomore
“I believe it’s such a good idea. I hope surrounding the theme around one specific culture wont invoke any issues, but I am very glad to see an unprecedented theme being used at the most renown fashion event of the year.”- Kelilah Murrain, Sophomore
“I think this theme is definitely different to the ones in the past. I don’t really watch the Met Gala, but I’m interested in how the theme will be interpreted.”- Alejandro Escudero, Sophomore
“I’m so glad to not see a basic theme this year! There is so much to work with, and I’m super inspired by this year’s theme. I might even make my own little cute outfit.”- Allison Hesising, Sophomore
“I’m intrigued to see all their outfits and how the final looks will be. This is definitely a theme like no other.” – Camila Portalatin, Junior
“The Met Gala has always been something I don’t really pay attention to, but after hearing this year’s theme, I think I might watch it. There’s so many different styles that can come from this one theme, so I definitely think I’ll give it a watch.”- Samuel Morillo, Senior
