Last week, pop artist Taylor Swift visited Miami, Florida once again to perform her record-breaking Eras Tour for three magical nights. With tickets selling out in minutes, fans have been anticipating her arrival for months, from guessing Swift’s outfits to planning their own.
Swift announced that she was coming back to five cities: Miami, New Orleans, Indianapolis, Toronto, and Vancouver in August 2023. She decided on these cities because of the electric, fun-filled crowds, who did not disappoint in Miami.
“I went [on] October 18th (night one),” says sophomore Brooke Wooden. “The Miami Eras Tour show was so much fun! The energy was so amazing, and I had such a great time,” she continues. For Swifties, the Eras Tour has been a safe and comforting experience, with many deeming it a true representation of girlhood; an opportunity to dress up, sing, and dance for hours. “My favorite part was when she performed ‘Love Story’ and the whole crowd sang along. The lights, music, and atmosphere made it a night to remember,” Wooden recalls.
Many fans have also been hoping for a new Reputation bodysuit since the tour began. For the entirety of the tour, Swift has worn a black one-legged bodysuit with snakes slithering around her. Fans had almost given up hope until she entered the Reputation era in a new bodysuit with gold snakes, leaving them conflicted about what the suit hinted at, likely one of her remaining re-records, Reputation (Taylor’s Version) and Debut (Taylor’s Version).
Emma Betancourt, a freshman who attended night two, loved “meeting Gracie Abrams’ mother, Katie Mcgrath, [when] Taylor brought out Florence from Florence and the Machine to sing “Florida!!!”, and the entire Reputation set with the new bodysuit.” Gracie Abrams, who opened for Swift, attended the concert in the same section as Betancourt.
To fans’ surprise, Taylor brought her The Tortured Poets Department hit “Florida!!!” to Miami after performing it in London as a prelude to her Miami shows. In the performance, Swift glides around a green-lit stage as she sings solo until Florence Welch, who also sings in the song, emerges from the stage to perform alongside her. “Florida!!!” was an exclusive song for Miami and London Night 8 attendees, making them lucky to have seen it in person.
Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour has been lauded as a cultural phenomenon. Between new outfits, fan theories, and melodic mashups, Miami attendees experienced three special nights of love and fun. Even though Swift is on her way to other shows across North America, Miami’s electric crowds can still feel the power of Taylor Swift’s groundbreaking tour.
