Amidst all of the rumors about canceling the annual PPCHS Fall Festival on October 18th at 6 P.M. on the football field, the festival was back on! Countless club booths were lined up on the edges of the football field, setting up and displaying their newly made booths and extravagant games.
The Fall Festival is a yearly event held at the PPCHS football field every year that was canceled due to the stormy Florida weather (Constant weather holds, thunderstorms, and introduction to Hurricane Milton). A substantial amount of clubs had been on the football field on the original date of the Fall Festival setting up till it had been announced as canceled.
After students were initially upset about the constant rescheduling of the Fall Festival, they lightened up and were excited once the set date was announced. Freshman Noah Mercado said, “I had been waiting for the Fall Festival to be rescheduled for a while, and when it was, I hoped it wouldn’t rain or get canceled again.” he said, “It was nice to head into the fall festival and see all the different kinds of games and booths that the clubs made!”
With the festival back on, the clubs that initially raised money to donate to charity or raise money for club activities, competitions, events, etc. (Costa Rica Aid Alliance, Village Mentors, National Honors Society, and more) were cheerful to have the opportunity to set up and entertain students as they help their club grow.
Each club participating was required to set up a booth filled with various activities, such as games and entertainment for the students who attended the festival. National Honors Society president Hannah Flores says, “We chose a three-legged race because we had done it last year, and since it was a lot of fun, we decided to do it again!” Flores then states, “[After the first couple reschedule of the fall festival, it] negatively affected us because the overall turnout for the event was smaller. However, it was still a fun experience, and we were able to raise money for our club!”
Despite the challenges, the passion among club members was captivating, and many went above and beyond to create fun experiences for their peers. The Costa Rica Aid Alliance showcased a haunted house that allowed students to head inside and meet their terrors, while Forza Stefano hosted a wheel to spin and win prizes.
Through the heavy rain and cold weather, students were still able to have fun participating in activities with each other and had a great time together at the festivities. It was all about supporting one another and just having fun. The festival allowed clubs to raise funds and cultivate many connections and memories, building and maintaining the importance of friendship and teamwork between the students at PPCHS. As the night wrapped up, it was clear that the spirit of the Fall Festival had succeeded, uniting the school in celebration.
