With fall beginning and leaves falling from trees, it was soon time for Heartstopper’s third season to be released. While the other seasons introduced the characters and brought enjoyment to their viewers, this season ignited new, emotional topics.
During the new season, the show reintroduced viewers to the main couple, Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson, along with their group of friends—the “Paris Squad.” In the second season, viewers received clips of Spring’s struggles with his body image and eating. As the third season progresses, the show only emphasizes these struggles and reveals the theme of mental health within relationships.
After Spring’s lasting battle with his mental health, it begins to worsen as the show signifies how mental health affects people. Although Nelson tries to help him in the best way he can, there’s only so much a teenage boy can do until it starts hurting him.
The show uses animation to highlight the character’s feelings on the inside, and how the mind can work in scary and sad ways. Heartstopper is a show that shows many relationship concepts and brings the large issue of mental health into play. Also, Heartstopper represents the theme of finding joy even in the harsher moments in a teenager’s life.
The actors in the show delivered an incredibly impressive performance. Anybody who watched the show could feel the joy or the sadness in the scene.
The actors fell deep into their roles this season and accomplished their goal of bringing light to mental and eating disorders. Not only was the acting exceptional, but the places they went to succeed in these major parts played a big role in the series. This ultimately allowed many of the characters to grow within themselves.
Heartstopper Season 3 was an exceptional, complex, and beautiful experience. Viewers watched, laughed, and cried as characters tackled all-too-real issues alongside their best friends and loved ones. This season’s astounding success leaves fans excited for what Heartstopper will do next.
