As the bell rings students fill Pines Charters hallways decked out in creative outfits, chains, crazy hair, and fun colors to show off their favorite music artist or genre. Weeks before Spirit Week students were already scheming on who or what to dress as these ideas varied from Morgan Wallen and Lana Del Rey to Travis Scott and Daniel Ceasar. Students brought special props such as microphones, speakers, and guitars to really express and act out how much love they have for that specific artist or genre.
“I dressed up as Bad Bunny, specifically the album cover from his album Un Verano Sin Ti. I dressed up as that not only because I love the album, but it was really fun to make. I got the idea from Pinterest while trying to get some quick costume ideas.”-Yasmin Dominguez, Sophomore
“For Music Genre Day I dressed up as Tyler the Creator because I’ve always loved his music and thought being him would be fun.”- Fabiana Roca, Senior
“I dressed up as Yeat, he is an American rapper that makes fire music. I dressed up as Yeat because he’s the goat. He’s a lifestyle, he’s the way of life. Also because he was easy to dress up as I got the idea from Google I was looking for rappers I could pull off with the clothing and resources I had on hand, and he looked the most relatable and achievable.”- Mustafa Salman, Senior
“I dressed up as Romeo Santos from Aventura. I wanted to dress up as him because I wanted to show my love for bachata, and the idea came from their album cover Generation Next”- Gabriel Castro, Junior
“I dressed up as Karol G because she’s one of my favorite artists. I love everything about her like her look, attitude, music style, etc., and I just thought of who I love as an artist and who I felt I could dress up as the most accurately.”- Laura Cervantes, Sophomore
“I dressed up as 50 Cent because I thought it was fun, easy, and a cool idea! I saw someone else do it on TikTok and knew right away that’s what I wanted to recreate.”- Alyssa Clarke, Junior
“I dressed up like Drake because he’s my favorite artist ever! I went to his concert last year and it was one of my favorite memories. I have a whole flag of him in my room. I already knew I wanted to dress up as Drake as soon as the Spirit Week themes came out and I got inspiration from his Instagram on what to wear. I also bought a stuffed animal to replicate his son.”– Nicole Navas, Junior
“I dressed up as Lana del Rey, specifically from her Lust for Life album cover. I ended up doing Lana because I was originally going to dress up as Pink Pantheress, but felt like the outfits weren’t recognizable and didn’t align with my personal style. I got the idea to dress up as Lana instead of scrolling through my playlist and trying to find an artist that had a recognizable style but was also comfortable and somewhat unique.”– Jhazz Thompson, Senior
“I decided to dress up as a semi-popular artist who goes by the name Cochise. I decided to dress as Cochise because although he is pretty new to me, I’ve heard some of his songs on social media. One of his outfits looked cool to me and I decided to try to recreate the same aesthetic with a trench coat I found and a black tie my friend gave me.”- Santiago Bogotá, Junior

I feel like we need more spirit weeks as students because we already don’t have any dress down days, so spirit week is really our only time to dress out and have fun.
