Last year, the PPCHS marketing students dedicated their time to creating PPCHS’s first-ever merch store so students could represent their school and showcase their Jag spirit. Bringing back the store for the 2024-2025 school year on September 10th, the students who have run the store have made many new changes to the Jag Shack to improve it for the following year. With many students looking through the new designs, the student body is prepared for another successful year.
Jag Shack began with the marketing teacher, Ms. Ferrer, who “had a goal of starting a school store and expanding the marketing program,” senior Sophia Garcia described. Gathering a group of trusted students, Ms. Ferrer explained the idea to her marketing applications class students. After hard work over the last few years, the Jag Shack was officially established and opened in the middle of the 2023-2024 school year. It all took off from one grand idea.
The Jag Shack not only gives the students a chance to wear Jaguar merchandise, but it’s also done to show students the life of running a business. “Working at the store really gives you the behind-the-scenes and gives you different aspects of running a business,” Garcia explains, “it’s a continuous program we would like to continue to expand at our school.” Giving marketing students a way to run their own collaborative business has allowed them to see if this career line is right for them.
This year, they have dedicated a class to the Jag Shack so students currently in marketing can continue to bring their paws to help in the school’s store. With around 20 students currently in this class, they “are dedicated to ensuring that the class is running smoothly and that the store is [smoothly running.]” The class itself also gives those students in their first year in marketing a chance to put their skills into a real-life business for PPCHS.
Garcia mentions that the main goal for the Jag Shack is “to continue moving forward and continuing to grow.” During the Club Fair, they were offering the leatherman jackets which will be available soon, allowing students to pre-order them before arrival. They have been around many previous events to sell merchandise for new and old students, offering their new catalog of clothing that all Jaguar students can enjoy.
With the new expansion of their catalog for the rising school year, the marketing class did this to expand the clothing variety and let students show off a new style. “Freshmen don’t have a lot of spirit clothes or different things to wear,” Garcia said, “So just to be able to give them the opportunity to wear something else and to show off their school spirit without just having to wear the polo shirts.” Working together on the business, the students collaborated on their designs together to make this year’s new catalog for the Jagshack.
Already with such grand success at the start of the year, students during their lunches can walk around and see the new catalog for the school year. By purchasing merchandise, many students can already be seen walking around showing off their jag spirit and wearing their new designs to represent their school in a fashionable manner. After many years of construction, the dream of the jag shack is now one of reality, and will forever hold the award of the Jaguar’s first-ever merchandise shop!
