As society progresses and the world changes, students here at Charter have become more aware of humanitarian crises around the world. This includes genocides, big homeless populations forming, and underprivileged kids and adults. Due to this inhumane issue, a group of four students decided to start an organization called Hearts4Humanity in order to make this world a better place.
These four students are sophomores Nusaybah Arif, President of General Affairs and Events, Alisha Lenka, President of Public Relations and Marketing, Juan Lopez, President of Communications, and Manuel Roz Cuadra, President of Treasury. All four of these dedicated individuals are working together as co-presidents and have also chosen other students for more officer positions to make a successful change in the community.
The idea of this impactful initiative came to mind through a week of stress and sadness because of different issues going on across the world. “The Monday of midterm week last year my friends and I were sitting in class playing spit when we were talking about different ways that we could make a difference in our community and through a bunch of brainstorming and adrenaline-boosting games of spit, Hearts4Humanity was born,” revealed Nusaybah Arif.
Through this simple game of Spit, these students realized how deeply they felt about making a difference in their community and knew they had to take initiative. Junior Evan Omana who is the historian for Hearts4Humanity states, “I wanted to join because this is a brand-new organization to Charter and it’s something I am passionate about, so being able to spread awareness in my school inspired me.”
The Hearts4Humnaity organization will allow all students to participate in powerful events and activities that will benefit different issues in our world. “We have many exciting plans for the future, like creating hygiene kits for the homeless, assembling small gifts for children in need, hosting guest panels, and so much more!” Nusaybah Arif excitedly shares. These activities will not only help the world and people in need but also spread more awareness to the student body of these humanitarian crises.
By taking the initiative and starting this club at Charter, the Hearts4Humanity board’s goal is to “be able to bring back the spirit of humanity in the world and even in our school environment. Our main motive is to make sure that we can put a smile on someone’s face whenever we can!” expresses Nusaybah Arif.
This team hopes to be able to make an impactful difference in our world while also leaving an emphatic effect on the student body. Hearts4Humanity is excited to grow its organization and get everyone involved so that humanitarian crises can be handled and put to an end.
