As autumn begins, a relaxing hobby marks a seasonal tradition. Although reading might not be for everyone, falling into a book, occasionally, could bring something new to the table. For some inspiration, here are the top 5 books that will make fall a lot cozier:
Yours truly
Abby Jimenez has grown significantly as an author. Yours truly is one of her most popular books. The uplifting romance novel focuses on a deeper meaning than just love. The main characters, Briana Ortiz and Jacob Maddox, form an unplanned relationship because they work in the same field and share personal struggles. From serious heartbreaks to family issues, this book has a multitude of perspectives for each of its characters. Since Maddox is kind-hearted and Ortiz is stubborn, their love language ends up being through love letters and, eventually, branched out into them facing their fears together. Jimenez’s “happily ever after” ending and warmed-hearted tone has made the book the right balance for many to enjoy.
Hopeless
Although Colleen Hoover has written many fan favorites, Hopeless is not as popular. This book describes the life that Sky Davis has gone through since being adopted at age five. It wasn’t far into the story when Davis reconnects with an old “friend,” Dean Holder. After new feelings for each other arise, Davis and Holder discover new secrets about each other and act as each other’s lifeboat. Hopeless is a book that readers can never stop reading or thinking about.
Fourth Wing
Reaching the shelves at a record pace was Rebecca Yarros’ Fourth Wing which has become a favorite for many book lovers. Centering on dragons, the main character, Violet Sorrengail, is seen as “too weak” to be a part of the rider’s quadrant; however, Violet’s much stronger than she appears. Yarros knows how to deliver the character’s emotions beautifully. During fall, if a book full of fantasy and romance is your cup of tea, it’s a great book.
Powerless
Powerless, by Lauren Roberts, brings readers into a new fantasy world—the Kingdom of Ilya. Throughout the book, there are two types of people: the Elites and the Ordinary; however, the Ordinaries are banished from the kingdom. While Paedyn, the main character and an Ordinary, tries to hide herself, she accidentally saves the Prince of Ilya, which gets her selected to participate in The Trials. After reading this fantasy, it only keeps the reader wanting more.
Shatter Me
With the entire series being completed in 2021, it’s a series that can be read after many years, especially during the fall. Shatter Me, by Tahereh Mafi, is about a girl named Juliette Ferrars whose touch is lethal. Her touch is a weapon, and after being locked up for 264 days, she gets released by a mysterious group who wants to help her. In return, Ferrars has to help them on their mission, but the villain may not be so villainous after all. Mafi’s book is a mixture of dystopian and romance, with many books in the series and a new one along the way. The entire series is just waiting to have a place on a book lover’s bookshelf.
Whether a series is a couple of years from being completed or a book has been out for a few years, these books are great recommendations to read during the fall. What makes every book unique is the special twist that the author does to make it their own. As the weather cools and the fall sweaters return, sometimes a book is all people need to make it the perfect autumn-inspired day.
