Adele’s voice, fan base, and impact in the music industry have made her a legacy. After announcing her break from the industry, Adele replies to wondering fans by saying it is “long [overdue] and deserved.” She hopes that this time off will allow her to spend time and focus on her family, in addition to expanding her mind with other creative activities.
This news was presented to fans during her show in Munich, Germany on August 31st and her last concert will be in Las Vegas, Nevada. Her step back was shocking to many but has been done before. Adele mentioned that she doesn’t enjoy being in the spotlight and misses her life before her fame. In 2011, 2012, and now 2024, Adele has decided to step away from the fame and pressure for an unspecified amount of time.
On November 23, 2024, Adele will have her last performance for the time being. Although she will be gone for an unknown amount of time, Adele looked ahead and made the time up by making her 2021 album and going on tour. If fans miss her, all of her 332 songs are always available to listen to.
While Adele only just announced her break, she was hinting to her fans during a July interview with Germany’s Second German Television that she would not be in the spotlight for long. “I want a big break after this [residency], and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while,” she says, alluding to a long break. She also remarked that she “didn’t have any plans for new music at all.”
Adele’s supporters have had concerns about her abrupt announcement but have supported her during this time. Fans have been lifting the mood and saying that, as soon as she comes back to the spotlight, they will be ready. Sophomore Mariam Ruiz expresses her support stating, “Although I will miss her music presence in potential concerts and new albums or singles, her previous music is always available to me.”
Ready for her next chapter, Adele expressed her excitement to spend quality time with her family. Being in the constant limelight can be stressful for her, so breaks are necessary for her mental health. Senior Sophia Assis says, “I really am glad that Adele is deciding to take a break. I think being able to be alone with the people you love is important.”
