Billie Eilish hits hard with her newest album titled: Hit Me Hard and Soft. With the release of Eilish’s highly anticipated third studio album, the American singer-songwriter was able to top the charts once again. The album, which was released on May 17, 2024, includes 10 songs ranging in genres from alternative pop to jazz, along with an overall original electronic touch Eilish provides on every album. Now that the album is finally here, here’s what Charter has to say about it:
“I think the album was worth the wait. I think it’s really good, and she did a really good job. I just love her voice and everything about her. I really like how she expresses her feelings compared to other artists. One of my favorite tracks off of the album is ‘Skinny,’ for that reason. She articulates that she has loved herself in any stage of her body and that’s just so amazing. My other favorite track has to be ‘L’AMOUR DE MA VIE.’ She’s just so passionate about all her work. I love this album, and I can’t wait to see her in concert in November!” –Ciara Epstein, Sophomore
“My favorite tracks are ‘Lunch’ and ‘True Blue.’ I like that the album is very experimental! I don’t think she has much to improve on. I really like her music.” -Giovanna Colaferri, Sophomore
“I really like the way she produces her music and her style. My favorite album so far has to be this one. It just feels like her most authentic one so far and also feels bittersweet. My favorite track has to be ‘Lunch.’ This album, in particular, varies in vibe between songs. I felt like she definitely went for an upbeat/dance kind of style of songs but also kept the alternative energy from previous albums. She definitely met my expectations.” -Ayana Russell, Sophomore
“I like Billie because she’s a young artist you can relate to. She shows true and raw emotion. I think, for me, Hit Me Hard and Soft is a bit short, and I wish there were more songs. Regardless, I loved all of the songs. The production and the lyrics are amazing. I think she’s definitely going into her more mature self. She’s getting more intimate with her lyricism. My favorite song has to be either ‘Lunch’ or ‘Birds of a Feather.’ ‘Birds of a Feather’ resembles a good relationship with a person you care about dearly, and the production on ‘Lunch’ is so catchy. I love the album cover the most along with the Iloilo theory about how there are two albums. She, without a doubt, met my expectations, but she should definitely improve those tour dates.” – Gabriela Rivera, Sophomore
As Eilish spoke out about her album, she revealed her intricate relationship with music and how the album she put so much work into made her fall back in love with it. She said, “I used to really not enjoy making music, and I still have trouble with it. I forgot that I started making music because I loved it. And then it became my job so quickly, when I was so young, that I kind of didn’t get to enjoy it as much.”
Charter enjoyed Eilish’s new album and can’t wait to see what this young artist has in store for the future.
