“…Ready for it?” is the most fitting song to depict the indescribable success of Taylor Swift that nobody was prepared for. 12 Grammys, 40 American Music Awards, 39 Billboard Music Awards, and many more incredible accomplishments later, Taylor continues to outshine most in the entertainment industry. In just over 10 months, Taylor Swift has built on her already remarkable legacy, selling out concert arenas filled to their brim and grossing millions of dollars from her extraordinary performances and miraculous film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.
Just as companies were beginning to wrap up the year, TIME Magazine announced their annual tradition of choosing one celebrity as “Person of the Year.” Swift would become the owner of the 2023 title for “building a world of her own that made a place for so many, for spinning her story into a global legend, for bringing joy to a society desperately in need of it.”
As Taylor continues to grow, the lasting impact she leaves on students and staff at Charter allows many to appreciate and understand her astonished role given by TIME Magazine and see what makes her truly special:
“Taylor is an inspirational person, and I love her music. Whenever I’m not in a good mood, I listen to it.” – Morgan Bear, Freshman
“She worked really hard. People have been against her in everything she does, so she has been doing really good despite the circumstances. I see her as a powerful female that works in the music industry.” – Madeline Albear, Sophomore
“Taylor has done so much this year, and I feel like who else would have been Person of the Year except for Taylor Swift? The Eras Tour movie and the Eras Tour brought in a lot of money.” – Kaylee Suyama, Sophomore
“I’m proud of Taylor. I think she is an insanely talented musician, and she is on top of the music industry right now. She is making a lot with the Eras tour and movie. Also, the way she is getting her work back, like she is re-owning her music, it’s inspirational. Her music helps me cope, and it’s relatable.” – Mia Cichero, Sophomore
“The announcement from TIME about Taylor being their ‘Person of the Year’ means a lot to me because it shows how hard work pays off and to never give up. I view Taylor as a good, successful businesswoman that has been through so much and has pushed through it all, and I aspire to be like her one day.” – Maria Estrada, Junior
“I think Taylor deserves the title. She worked very hard for it. She has all 10 of her albums in the top 100, and she is still creating and remaking her music and selling out almost every concert. I relate to her songs, and I look up to her for what she went through at such a young age.” – Ashley Riesgo, Junior
“Taylor is in charge; she owns half of everybody’s Spotify Wrapped. What is admirable about her is that she is pro-women, and she’s a good influence. She’s been around since I have been in elementary school and she is still cranking out stuff, which is amazing.” – Director Hannon, Theatre
