If asked what their favorite class in school is, numerous students choose the popular, yet completely serious answer: lunch. Those (approximately) 30 minutes are perhaps the time most looked forward to by highschoolers, not only for their free time to socialize, but for the actual food served as well—from the zesty tang of marinara-drenched pasta to the sweet chill of icy slushies.
During elementary school days, kids excitedly look forward to their future middle school experiences, fueled with the anticipation that middle school lunch is better than that of elementary. At the middle school level, excitement is then built on the idea that highschool lunch is the top tier, with nothing getting better than that.
However, in recent months, an apparent new shift in highschool lunches has been observed by students, especially with the replacement of original chicken sandwiches with full plates of nachos and cups of buffalo chicken wings. As PPCHS students navigate these new menu options, they share a variety of thoughts on just how appetizing highschool lunch can be.
