As I pulled into Fast Food Place X’s drive-thru pickup, I was greeted by workers standing centimeters away from each other, pushing past the 3 x 3 window to hand me my fried chicken. I can’t stop thinking about everything wrong with the picture. Why did I only see one person wearing a mask or gloves during my entire whirl around the track? Why isn’t anyone calling this company out on a blatant health violation? Why aren’t our governments holding whoever came up with these policies (or lack thereof) accountable? Why is it normal for people to be expected to work in such circumstances? Who is going to pay for their medical bills if these people or their families contract COVID-19?

We are not being taken care of. We’re being failed. Repeatedly. All of us.
