Listening to the sound of the city’s echo, as I approached the venue of the concert that I had awaited since July, I felt excitement like no other. On Friday, November 10th, I got to transform a part of my childhood that was once just a fantasy into real life, brought to me by the infamous Mr. 305 himself. Throughout the weekend, from November 9th to the 11th, Pitbull, accompanied by Enrique Iglesias and Ricky Martin, brought the Trilogy tour to Miami.
All throughout my childhood and up to my teenage years, I listened to Pitbull very frequently, so when I found out in July that he was performing here, I immediately knew that I had to go, and he didn’t disappoint. The concert opened with DJ Laz, Pitbull’s uncle, displaying his skills on stage. After some time, the whole stadium lit up and cheered on Mr. Worldwide when he made his appearance. Starting off his setlist with “Don’t Stop The Party,” and ending with “Give Me Everything,” he kept the audience hyped and excited throughout his entire performance. After each song, he came onto the big screen with his famous smirk and glasses, causing an eruption of laughter amongst the audience every single time. Every few songs, he did an outfit change, swapping the color of his suit. What was most memorable about Pitbull’s portion of the concert was the speech he delivered, expressing to the crowd how lucky we are to have what we have and live where we live. He also emphasized how we cannot waste any time in our lives, and we have to always live life to its fullest, turning anything and everything from a “negative to a positive, ” as said in his song “Give Me Everything.”
Enrique Iglesias followed Pitbull’s act, and he was decently good. I had low expectations for Enrique’s performance, due to the numerous TikTok videos I had seen about him being subpar in comparison to Ricky and Pitbull. When he first appeared, the crowd got very excited, most likely because many people consider him a “heartthrob.” However, his performance lacked many crucial components. He barely sang, and when he did, he didn’t sound very good. He also never changed his outfit, only wearing a tank top and jeans the whole time. However, his interaction with the crowd made his performance ten times better, as he even went into the pit and carried someone’s baby while singing– one of the few times he sang. He later released balloons with his initials printed on them over the crowd. Despite his poor singing, his interactions with the crowd were very entertaining and kept the people engaged for the next performer: Ricky Martin.
Spectacular is just one of the few ways that I could describe Ricky Martin’s performance. When he arrived on stage, I cheered so loud, knowing that he was going to sing my favorite song of his, “Livin’ La Vida Loca.” He was the only artist to dance with his dancers the whole night, and not once did he seem fatigued while singing and dancing at the same time. I was so ecstatic as the crowd sang along to his hit songs like, “Maria,” “She Bangs,” “Tu Recuerdo,” and many more. His lights and stage presence were electric, and I believe that out of the three artists, Ricky definitely performed the best, despite Pitbull’s amazing setlist.
Overall, the Trilogy Tour 2023, was amazing. Despite a few hiccups in Enrique’s performance, I would see these three icons on stage for a second time if I could.
