All of our athletes here at Pembroke Pines Charter Deserved to be recognized for all their hard work and dedication throughout this unprecedented year. Especially our seniors, who had their senior year taken from them, and yet still made the most of their last year here for the Jaguars. As the school year comes to a close, here are a few of our special athletes who were recognized as Charters All Star Athletes.

Matthew Gordon
Senior captain of the soccer team for two years
Led the Jaguars to a 2020 state championship appearance
4 Year athlete making all county first team two years in a row
3 goals and Over 10 assists from Left Back
Selected for Broward County All-Star game in 2021
Held 5 Shut-outs this season leading Charter to Regional Finals
Francesca Brito
Senior Captain of girls soccer team
5 year athlete, played on the high school team as an 8th grader
All county first team two years in a row
Selected to Broward County All-Star game in 2021 and scored the game
Top Scorer Totaled 35 goals in her stint at Pines Charter
Committed to play college soccer for Florida International University
Pete Laidley
Senior Starter for the Pines Charter’s boys basketball team
Won 5A state championship with the Jaguars
Committed to play college basketball at Keystone University
Averaged 10 points a game in his senior year
Played 40 games for the jaguars in two seasons
Ismael Baqai
Senior Leader for Pines Charter’s boys basketball team
Won 5A state championship with the Jaguars
Committed to play college basketball at Washington College
Showed great leadership and heart according to his teammates
Played 35 games in two seasons with the Jaguars
Spring Sports
Franklin Penales Jr
Senior stud for the Jaguars Baseball team
Led the team to the district championship game
Had a whopping .400 batting average for a high school senior
Two home runs which led the team in the 2021 season
Stella Dioguardi
Dioguardi as a junior led the girls water polo team to the regional championship
She has recorded 43 goals and 21 assists as a captain of the team
Collected 64 points in 14 games
Sumedh Edavalurri
As a sophomore, took home the tennis solo 5A district title
Went on almost a perfect season only losing once throughout the season
Selected for all county tennis first team
Only loss was to the number #1 rated tennis player in the state in the state championship match
We here at The Chat would like to congratulate our senior standouts plus our two other younger all-stars. All the athletes at Pines Charter are exceptional student-athletes but there is only room for so many athletes here at the school. This begs the question though.. Who will be on this list next year?
