Helpful Tips and Dates for Future Testings

April 5, 2021

And just like that, we reached the last quarter of the school year, Jags. While it is a short one, it is filled with testing.

This time of the year is stressful, but there are ways to alleviate the stress. It is important to study everyday leading up to the test dates, have a good night sleep, eat a filling breakfast, and come to school prepared.

In January and March, we’ve had students come on campus to take the PSAT and ACT. Students came to campus wearing masks, socially distanced on campus, outside the testing rooms, and hallways.

On April 7th, all 9th graders are to come on campus to take the ELA Writing test. On April 8th, all 10th graders will take the ELA Writing test.

The school sent out a JupiterEd message regarding instructions for these days. Masks are mandatory while on campus. Students are to wear their school uniform and they may bring a sweater or jacket. The proctors are not collecting phones so it is important to bring a small bag or purse to keep your belongings.

Check in begins at 8:30 am so students must arrive on time. The exam starts at 9:00-9:15 am and ends at 12:30-12:45 pm.

All rooms are sanitized. As for the students in rooms, the school is following the BCPS number allowed; a maximum of 12 students per room. It is a requirement that students stay 6 feet apart in the hallways and on campus.

There are two options for arrival and dismissal for car riders: at the front gate next to the main office building or the student parking lot. Parents should pick up their kids where they dropped them off.

For bus riders, the school will send out an email with instructions.

The school is providing grab and go meals for virtual kids, while current on-site kids will receive lunch as usual. Students who will receive extended time will also be provided with a grab and go meal.

April 7th (9th grade) and April 8th (10th grade) FSA Writing tests are 120 minutes. May 11th and 12th are FSA Reading for 9th graders. May 13th and 14th are FSA Reading for 10th graders. These are 90 minute tests.

EOCs begin on May 17th and 18th which is for Algebra 1 kids and it is 90+ minutes. The Geometry EOC is on May 24th and 25th and 90+ minutes.

The UHS EOC is on May 19th and it is 160+ minutes. The Biology EOC is on May 26 and it is also 160+ minutes.

As each day passes we get closer and closer to the end of the school year. In these stressful times it’s important to think positive thoughts and know that with hard work and dedication anything is possible. Charter has done its part in keeping students safe during these unprecedented times and making the testing process as stress free as possible.
