A Fiery Start for Our Jags

Our very own Pembroke Pines Charter varsity football team has had a promising start to their season this year. They are currently sitting undefeated with a record of 2-0, and it seems like this season is going to be different than the rest. With a positive record and great momentum in their favor, it seems like the team is in a good position to win some more games. One of our sophomores on the varsity team, Manuel Villar, shares that, “ If we are able to keep the same positive mindset and continue to execute on and off the field, we will be able to continue our success.”

The first game of the season was a hard earned win against Coral Springs Charter by a score of 36-28. However, the most recent game was by far the most impressive one yet. The Jags absolutely obliterated Northeast on senior night, outscoring them 48-6 on Thursday. The team played well both offensively and defensively.

In the first quarter the Jags started off strong, scoring two touchdowns and keeping Northeast scoreless. Second quarter came rolling in and that’s when the team started to pick up the pace. They scored 20 more points as Northeast scored their only points of the night. The varsity team seemed like they couldn’t stop scoring. In the third quarter they were able to score 8 more points and finally in the fourth quarter they scored their final 6 points, ending the game with one of the best performances they’ve shown in the past few seasons. It was an amazing sight to see the team have such a satisfying performance on their very own senior night.

One of our seniors on the team, Aidan Ryan, gives his thoughts on the Thursday night game: “It was a dominant performance overall. Offensive was explosive like usual and the defense pulled through for us. I am very proud and impressed with my team. It feels amazing to win at home with these guys especially when it’s senior night”.

The team hopes to keep their streak going as their next game is against Pompano Beach at Pompano on Thursday night. The odds seem to be in favor of the Jags as Pompano Beach has yet to win a game this season. They are currently sitting with a record of 0-4. If the Jags win this game, it will be the first time the varsity football has ended the calendar year undefeated. With their great momentum and success, there is no doubt that the Jags will come out with a win.
